Join the 4-H Junior Camp Counselor Team!
4-H Junior Camp Counselors are a very important part of the ND 4-H Camping experience. 4-H Junior Camp Counselors are both participants and educators of the 4-H camp education program at the North Dakota 4-H Camp near Washburn. You will learn responsibility, patience, leadership and supervisory skills.
By becoming a Junior Camp Counselors you gain valuable experience working with the NDSU Extension Service team. You will learn skills that will be helpful in the fields or recreation, education, child care, and extension. You will develop skills that we hope you would use to become a future summer camp counselor at our camp. Also, this experience could potentially assist you with a great reference for future job searching opportunities.
Qualifications: Eligible youth are at least 15 years old, have leadership experience, and have an interest in the 4-H camping program.
Junior Camp Counselors will attend an in-depth training and have the opportunityto work at the 4-H Adventrue and Shooting Sports Camps. They will be active participants in the 48 Hour Camp, designed specifically for older youth at the 4-H camp. The commitment would be from Thursday, June 6 - Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Fees/Benefits: There are no weekly fees, salary or monetary compensation for being a Junior Camp Counselor, however there is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $100.
Benefits include: a camp t-shirt, a camp sweatshirt, name badge, room and board for two weeks, $20 in canteen funds, leadership training, participation in the 48 Hour Camp designed especially for older youth, and more!
Returning JC's
If you were a Junior Camp Counselors in 2012 and would like to return again this summer, please submit a letter of intent with the following answers to the questions or information:
