4-H Shooting Sports Volunteer Information

North Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports volunteers are an important part of the 4-H Shooting Sports project.  Volunteer Instructors become positive role models for youth while teaching about environmental ethics, outdoor recreation, wildlife, and personal safety.

The number of hours each volunteer contributes to the program varies depending upon the number of youth and other volunteers involved.

Shooting Sports Volunteers are required to complete the 4-H shooting sports coordinator training workshop (14 hours minimum) before becoming an instructor. Trainings for 4-H volunteers are scheduled in your county or nearby when needed.  Contact your local Extension office for more information.

Training sessions for NASP are a minimum of eight hours in length and a maximum of 12 people in one training event.   A training event calendar is available in the shooting sports newletter on the Shooting Sports page.  We have NASP equipment available for use by certified instructors.  Contact Adrian Biewer for more info.

All volunteers who work with youth follow North Dakota 4-H Child Protection procedures which includes viewing the child protection video and completing the appropriate forms.

For more information about becoming a North Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports volunteer, please contact your local Extension office.
