Academic
Credentials (undergraduate)
The undergraduate applicant is required to furnish an original or
certified copy of an official academic record from all secondary or
upper level schools and all colleges, universities, and professional
schools attended. The academic record must show all marks or grades
received in each subject for each school year, and any certificates,
diplomas, or degrees awarded. Diplomas or certificates awarded for
completing government or university examinations must show the subjects
passed and the grades or marks earned. (See the sections on certification
and translation requirements.)
Students applying directly from their home countries, or who have
not completed any course work in a U.S. high school, college, or university,
should rank in the upper third of their class or have the equivalent
to B average grades to be considered for admission. The student's
rank in class should be included on the transcript or in a separate
letter from a school official. The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
is not required for applicants, but is useful for students in certain
fields, such as engineering.
More detailed information on the Scholastic Aptitude Test is available
from The College Board, Box 6200, Princeton, NJ 08541-6200, USA.
