Intensive English Language Program

The Intensive English Language Program is open to graduate and undergraduate applicants who plan to enroll at North Dakota State University. The course is designed for individuals whose scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) do not meet minimum standards and are required to participate as a condition of admission or as a condition of being awarded a teaching assistantship. However, the program is recommended for any international student wishing to improve English language skills or desiring extra preparation for college-level course work.

The summer program is a full-time, highly intensive course, offered for five weeks, which begins in July and concludes shortly before the start of the fall term in August. The fall program begins the last week of August and finishes in the middle of December. The spring program begins the first week of January and finishes in the middle of May.

Application to the English program can be made separately or at the same time as application for admission to an academic program. Intensive English Language Program applications are available online or through:
  • Telephone: (1-701-231-7895)
  • Fax: (1-701-231-1014)
