Dear
Friends:
On
behalf of all members of Union of Chinese Students and Scholars
at North Dakota State University (NDSU), I welcome you to join
us, to study and have fun together. You've made a big step to
come to NDSU and Fargo. I believe you will be proud of the experience
here in the future.
Fargo
is the biggest city in North
Dakota State
, it is located on the crossing
of North Dakota State
and Minnesota
State
, the population is about
100,000. For the weather, Fargo
receives an average of about
21 inches of rain and 48 inches of snow each year. The average
high in January is -8 degrees; July's average high is 28 degrees,
thus bring your warmest coat with you is a good choice.
There
are around 300 Chinese people in Fargo
. NDSU has the dominant Chinese
population. Most of the students live in the University
Village
, which is an apartment complex
near the campus. We often get together cooking, playing basketball,
soccer, fishing, hiking and specially skiing in the winner.
The atmosphere here is like a big, cozy family, we help each
other out in all kinds of things. In the traditional Chinese
festivals, fantastic parties are always organized for celebration.
On the Spring Festival every year, more than 100 Chinese prepare
the food together, making dumplings and cooking the different
local style food. What gorgeous scenery!
My
dear friends, we are looking forward to your coming! To get
more information and help before coming, please logon to our
website: http://www.acm.ndsu.nodak.edu/~unionchi
. Also, we really appreciate
the help from international students office.
Say
goodbye to your mom and dad, start a new journey at NDSU.
