SUPPLIES TCCs (479 - 495)

The supplies category includes items such as chemicals, glasswares, tools, and other research supplies. The key factor in coding supplies is in how the supplies will be used. If used in the operation of an office, use TCC 461. If used in a teaching or classroom environment, use TCC 516. If used in the operation of a computer, use TCC 443. If used in a research or other environment, use one of the TCCs in this category. The TCC descriptions in this category are generally self explanatory. A separate description of each TCC will not be listed here. Most supplies charged to this category can be charged to TCC 481 (supplies). However, the department may find that a more descriptive supply TCC can be used.

TCC Description

479 IT Equipment < $750 - This TCC is intended to be used similarly to TCC 572, which is in the Expendable Equipment object. Both TCC's are intended to allow tracking of IT expenditures for the IT plans. Some campuses have grant and contract or indirect cost agreements which allow expenditures only in certain objects, so adding TCC 479 under Supplies allows those campuses the ability to better track IT expenditures while avoiding the need to renegotiate those agreements.
