Scholarship Criteria

North Dakota State University is proud of the number of academically talented students who enter the University each year. We offer a variety of academic, athletic, and music scholarships to new students. Students interested in academic scholarships should contact the NDSU Office of Admission and request a scholarship form or use the link below. Students interested in athletic or music scholarships should directly contact either department.

Although scholarship competition is quite intense, all interested students are encouraged to complete the scholarship application or contact the appropriate department for consideration.

New student scholarships are awarded primarily to students who meet the following criteria:

  • fully admitted to NDSU,
  • minimum ACT composite score of 24 or SAT score of 1090,
  • cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and
  • high class rank.

Transfer students are considered for scholarships if they earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 from each school attended.

Competition for these scholarships is quite high, often causing the minimum test scores and grade point averages to be greater than the above criteria. University new student scholarship awards are made beginning in late March and may continue on a rolling basis through the spring and summer.
