2024 Scholarship Opportunities

The scholarship application for 2024 will open on Wednesday, November 1. 

We are pleased to recognize transfer students who demonstrate high academic achievement at the collegiate level and are working towards their first bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship opportunities have varying deadlines and may also rely on FAFSA information for need-based awards. For maximum consideration, a transfer scholarship application must be submitted by stated deadlines you may receive an email if you are selected for a scholarship or if you need to provide additional information.

NDSU Tuition Award Program

For the 2024-25 academic year, eligible North Dakota and Minnesota students with family income levels of $80,000 or less and are Pell-eligible will have base tuition and student fees fully covered through the NDSU Tuition Award Program if they are in their first or second year at NDSU. Achievers Transfer Award

Deadline
Fall Semester – April 1
Spring Semester – December 1

Awarded to transfer students completing an associate’s degree (Associate in Arts or Associate in Science) prior to beginning their program of study at NDSU and have earned a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.

3.5-4.0 GPA         $2,000/year (renewable for 1 additional year)

3.0-3.49 GPA       $1,000/year (renewable for 1 additional year)

To be eligible for this award students must be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.

Academic Transfer Award

Deadline
Fall Semester – April 1
Spring Semester – December 1

Awarded to high-achieving transfer students who have completed 12 or more credits, but not an Associate’s degree, from an accredited college at the time of application and have obtained a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.

$1,000/year (renewable for 1 additional year)

To be eligible for this award students must be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.

Students who transfer to NDSU after attending another college or university for one semester or less may be considered for First-Year Guaranteed Scholarships. Official final high school transcripts and test scores (if applicable) will be used to determine eligibility. All documents must be received on or before the deadline.

 

PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) Honor Society Scholarship

Spring Semester – December 1

This $500 one time award is available to students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society at the time of scholarship awarding and have a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0 or above. Student must complete both the Transfer Student Scholarship Application and the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Application to be considered.

To be eligible for this award students must be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.

Apply for additional Named Scholarships by April 1

Criteria: In addition to Guaranteed Scholarships, students may also apply for Named Scholarships which are awarded based on variable criteria such as academic merit or major.

Step 1: Claim your N.D. University System (NDUS) Account

In order to apply for additional Named Scholarships, you must use your N.D. University system account. Not sure if you've claimed your NDUS account? Click here to verify.

Step 2: Apply for Additional NDSU Scholarships

After claiming your N.D. University System Account, use it to log into the NDSU Scholarship Portal. Then, complete the general scholarship application and click submit.

  • Most of NDSU’s additional Named Scholarships are “Auto-Match.” This means you only need to submit the general scholarship application to be considered. No additional action is needed.
  • A few of NDSU’s additional Named Scholarships are “Apply-To.” You may see these listed as “Recommended Opportunities” after you submit your general scholarship application. Review your recommended opportunities and apply.
  • NDSU scholarships recipients will be notified after the April 1 scholarship deadline.
