Studio Culture 1914-2014: A Century of Design Leaders

We are celebrating the milestone of 100 years of design education and excellence. Since our humble beginnings in 1914, when the Department of Civil Engineering and Mechanic Arts first offered courses in architecture at North Dakota Agricultural College, the Department has established a reputation of educating design leaders. Many of our graduates are principals and designers in award winning regional, local, national, and international firms. This alone is reason to celebrate. We are planning two major events: a class reunion Gala (with a keynote speaker) in the fall and a symposium on the future of design education in the spring. Details can be seen here. Please come and celebrate with us and your classmates. We will also have several other events to showcase our connection to the City of Fargo and important issues in architecture and landscape architecture. Also, please contact us if you need help organizing a class reunion during either event.

Fund Raising Initiative: Visiting Professional-in-Residence Endowment

A major part of our success through the years is our focus on the student experience, from term-abroad to design innovation. Thus, we want to use the Centennial as an opportunity to raise funds for an endowed visiting Professional-in-Residence. This fund would allow us to bring innovative professionals from around the Nation and the world to Fargo to share their expertise by teaching our students. We are reaching for the stars, thus to accomplish this requires your help. For more information contact David Bertolini, Chair, e-mail: david.bertolini@ndsu.edu.
