"This fall, I am pleased to announce the creation of the President's Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs. This task force is charged with developing a campus wide statement and policy on alcohol and other drugs. It represents an expansion of years of effort in this area and it is consistent with our mission as an educational institution"

- President Joseph A. Chapman State of University Address 2007

President's Council on Alcohol & Other Drugs

The President's Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs was appointed by President Joseph A. Chapman in the fall of 2007 and is comprised of individuals representing faculty, staff, and students at NDSU. The Council is not seeking to eliminate the use of alcohol, but rather to significantly reduce the high-risk use that leads to problems for individuals and the community.

President Chapman charged the council with creating a strategic plan addressing alcohol and other drug abuse that included accountability at all levels, was far reaching in its scope, included measurable outcomes, and reflected the core values of the University.
