  • 89% of NDSU students report alcohol is NOT necessary to have a good time.
  • More than 75% of NDSU students have not performed poorly on a test or important project because of alcohol use.

REALLY. Check where this information came from on our CORE Alcohol and Other Drug Survey Page.

Alcohol & Calories

On Monday, November 16th the Wellness Education Leaders teamed up with Alcohol and Other Drug Programs to share information with the NDSU Community related to Alcohol and Calories.

Here are some interesting facts on how alcohol impacts your waist line:

- Alcohol consists of mainly water, pure alcohol, and variable amounts of sugar

- Alcohol is considered a source of "empty calories"

- Alcohol is shown to stimulate the intake of food and increase the feeling of hunger (our craving for that '4th meal')

People consume more food when they have consumed alcohol

-Ingesting alcohol interferes with your body's metabolism of nutrients used for energy production.

-When alcohol levels rise in your body, it will use the alcohol available, rather than any other nutrients.

You burn less fat when you drink alcohol
