Keynote Speaker: Erin Gillam, North Dakota State University
The Northern Plains Biological Symposium (NPBS) began in 2003 by the Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association (BSGSA) and faculty at North Dakota State University (NDSU). The goals of the NPBS are to facilitate an open discourse on relevant topics in the field of biological sciences, to provide an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students in the upper Midwest to present their research in a professional setting, and to expose regional undergraduate students to current research trends. We believe that this symposium creates an atmosphere where people in the area who are interested and excited about the field of biology can gather and share ideas. Furthermore, the symposium serves as a networking tool for both students and faculty in terms of recruiting and collaboration.
