Distance and Continuing Education, Summer Self-Support, and Cooperative Education credits are self-funded and are NOT covered by the base rate tuition.  Tuition for these credits is always assessed on a per credit basis.

In order to determine whether or not your class is self-funded you should look at the location code under the class details. 

• By looking at the Class Notes under the Class Details you can determine if the course is covered by the base rate tuition, if it is eligible for tuition waivers and if there are any course fees assessed for the class.

CREDIT TYPES

1. Distance and Continuing Education Credits
   Courses offered through the Distance and Continuing Education (DCE/DE/CE) department are billed at the North Dakota Resident Rate. These courses are not covered under the tuition cap and are not eligible for NDSU tuition waivers. 
   
   
2. Summer Self-Support Credits (offered only during summer terms)
   Courses labeled as Self-Support are not supported through state appropriated dollars and are only offered during summer semesters. These courses are billed at the North Dakota Resident Rate, but are not covered under the tuition cap and are not eligible for NDSU tuition waivers.
   
   
3. Cooperative Education Credits 
   Courses with a location code of “Cooperative Education” are not covered by the tuition cap and are not eligible to be paid by NDSU tuition waivers.  Registration for Cooperative Education credits must be completed through the NDSU Career Center.
