Withdrawing

Cancellation of RegistrationWithdrawing from a semester occurs when a student wishes to withdraw completely from NDSU for a semester.

  • Students CANNOT withdraw by attempting to drop all of their classes online.
    • Campus Connection will not allow a student to drop their last class online.
  • To withdraw a student must submit the Withdraw to Zero Credits Form.
  • Students wishing to withdraw will not receive any academic credits for classes within that semester.
    • This includes classes that have already been completed.
  • Once a withdrawal is processed the student cannot re-enroll for the semester.
    • Refunds resulting from a withdrawal are calculated based on the class length.
      • The class length calculation is based on the start and end date of the class dates listed on the Class Schedule on Campus Connection and includes all calendar days, not just class days.
      • Hypothetically it is possible that classes withdrawn in the same semester could have different refund percentages if the class lengths are different.

Dates and Deadlines

Note: These dates may vary if individual class start/end dates differ from the general session dates in which the class is assigned

*When eligibility for a refund is calculated NDSU takes the number of calendar days that have elapsed since the class has started and divides that by the number of calendar days in the class.  As a result a class with fewer calendar days will have a shorter deadline to receive a refund.

**Academic credits subject to the NDSU tuition and fee cap policy will not be eligible for a refund. Click HERE to view the NDSU Tuition and Fee Cap Policy.

*** Students cannot withdraw online.  Withdrawals must be submitted using the Withdraw to Zero Credits Form

Campus Connection will not let you drop your only or last class online

In order to drop or withdraw from all your classes, you must complete and submit a withdrawal to Zero Credits form at Bison Connection or retrieve a copy online.
