*To be considered for a 2009-10 scholarship, the applicant must be a full-time (12-credits or more) student for fall 2009. Awards are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.

**The list of scholarships is based, in part, on the previous year's awards and because scholarship awards and amounts will vary from year to year, this list is subject to change.

Requirements

Students selected to receive any College of Business Scholarship must agree to the following requirements. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the scholarship.

  • Attend one of the two scheduled scholarship meetings. Meeting dates and times will be noted in the award letter.(CANCELED)
  • Attend the College of Business Honors and Awards Event "A Reason to Celebrate" on April 23, 2009. (CANCELED)
  • Communicate your appreciation to the donor in the form of a formal thank you letter.

Types of Awards

Scholarships are available in three categories:

Honor Awards:

Honor Awards are conferred to the top student in the College of Business (Spolum Award) as well as to the top student(s) in each major. Honor Award selection is based on academic merit and service to the college/university/community. An essay is required.

Merit-Based Awards:

Merit Award selection is based on the criteria relevant to each scholarship. Where specific criteria are not noted, award recipient selection is based on academic merit and service to the college/university/community. Some awards require an essay.

Need-Based Awards:

Need-Based Award selection is based on financial need. Academic merit and service to the college/university/community will also be considered when awarding scholarships based on need. Applicants may be required to provide documented financial information demonstrating need.

2009-2010 Scholarships

AIS DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established to assist a student in accounting or information systems.

ASSOCIATES 2000 SCHOLARSHIP

An award to recognize and assist an outstanding student pursuing a major from the College of Business.

HAROLD H. AND DORIS E. BERG SCHOLARSHIPS

An endowed scholarship established in 1977 in memory of Doris E. Berg. Essay required.

CAROL BERGLOF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established to assist a junior student interested in the insurance industry.

EVELYN M. CAMPBELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established in 1985 to assist a North Dakota College of Business Student. Preference is given to women applicants.

COLE SCHOLARSHIP (F-M Area Foundation)

This scholarship was established by Prentiss H. and (Joyce B.) Cole, president of Cole Papers and long-time Fargo business leader.

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

An award to recognize and assist an outstanding student pursuing a major from the College of Business.

COMMUNITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established in 2000 to assist an outstanding student pursuing a major from the College of Business.

CORPORATE TECHNOLOGIES SCHOLARSHIP

This award assists a Bison athlete pursuing a major from the College of Business.

JAMES DAWSON BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

Established by NDSU alumnus, James Dawson, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding College of Business student.

EIDE BAILLY ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

Established in 1994 by the CPA firm, Eide Helmeke & Co., this scholarship assists an outstanding accounting student.

PHILLIP W. FARNHAM SCHOLARSHIP

Established by Phillip Farnham, a life-long supporter of NDSU, this renewable award recognizes an outstanding sophomore from the College of Business.

PAUL B. GLATT SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established in memory of Paul B. Glatt to assist an outstanding sophomore from the College of Business.

GOOD EFFORT ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established by two NDSU employees to assist an accounting student.

CHUCK HALL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established to assist an outstanding accounting student. Preference is given to applicants pursuing public accounting.

HEARTLAND TRUST COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established by Heartland Trust Company to assist a student pursuing a degree from the College of Business, who is also an active member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

GORDON HELLER SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established to assist a student from the College of Business who has demonstrated scholastic ability and leadership potential. Essay required.

THOMAS E. KANE & ANTON LEE MEMORIAL ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established by the Kane family to assist an outstanding accounting student. Essay Required.

LARSONALLEN LLP ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established by LarsonAllen to assist an outstanding accounting student. Essay Required.

GERALDINE B. LARSON SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships from the G.B. Larson fund assist students who excel in a College of Business program.

MICROSOFT SCHOLARSHIPS

Two scholarships sponsored by Microsoft Fargo to assist students pursuing a major or minor in Management Information Systems. Essay Required.

VERNE E. MILDE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

An award established to assist an outstanding student from the College of Business.

CLIFTON T. OSTER SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established in memory of Clifton T. Oster to assist an outstanding sophomore from the College of Business.

EUGENE W. AND OTILLIA PETTEE SCHOLARSHIPS

An endowment established in honor of retired faculty member Eugene Pettee (1970) to recognize seniors from the College of Business who have achieved continuous academic excellence.

IRWIN R. RECTOR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established in memory of Dr. Irwin Rector, former student and life long supporter of NDSU, to recognize a junior or senior student from the College of Business.

RSM/McGLADREY & PULLEN LLP ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP

This award recognizes an outstanding accounting student.

ROBERT N. SPOLUM SCHOLARSHIP

Established by Robert Spolum, retired Melroe Co. Chairman and community leader, to assist an outstanding student from the College of Business. Essay Required.

BOB AND JANE (TOMLINSON) THOMPSON SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship to assist an outstanding, and financially independent student, pursuing a major from the College of Business.

JACK THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship in memory of Jack Thompson, to recognize students who demonstrate personal integrity, ethics, character and determination to succeed through hard work. Essay required.

US BANCORP PRIVATE CLIENT GROUP SCHOLARSHIP

Established by First Trust Co. of North Dakota in 1986.

WINSTON AND JACQUELINE WALLACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship established by Professor Emeritus, Winston and Jacquelyn Wallace, and their family, to assist a College of Business student.

WEST ACRES DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

An award to assist an outstanding student from the College of Business.

TIM F. YUNKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established 1989 by the family of Tim F. Yunker to assist a student in the a College of Business program.
