Students who wish to discontinue enrollment in a class need to either drop the class or withdraw from the semester, depending on the student's particular circumstance. For refunds of tuition and fees, NDSU follows North Dakota University System's policies and procedures for "Dropping classes" and "Withdrawing from the semester". Regrettably, these are complicated issues. Information regarding the differences between drops and withdrawals follow: Dropping Classes: When a student wishes to discontinue enrollment in a class, but will retain enrollment in other classes, the class may be dropped on Campus Connection according to the academic dates and deadlines schedule. If a student already has completed a class in an earlier or shorter session in the same semester and wishes to drop any remaining classes, the remaining classes also may be dropped on Campus Connection according to the academic dates and deadlines schedule. A student who drops a class before the class is 9% complete is entitled to a 100% refund of tuition and fees. A refund will not be issued for classes dropped on or after 9% completion. The class length calculation is based on the start and end dates of the class as listed in Campus Connection, and includes all calendar days (including weekends and holidays), not just class days. A class may be swapped for another class, if the class is not a Distance or Continuing Education class, and it is the same number of credits. Withdrawing from the Semester: When a student wishes to discontinue enrollment from all classes and will not be receiving credit for any class(es) within that semester, the classes being discontinued will be processed as a withdrawal. If a student only has one class for the semester and wants to discontinue enrollment in the class, this scenario is considered a withdrawal from the semester. Once a withdrawal is processed, the student cannot re-enroll for the semester. Refunds resulting from a withdrawal are calculated based on the start date and the length of each individual class. Hypothetically, each class could have a different refund percentage. Upon withdrawal from the semester, classes are refunded based on the following schedule: Percent of Enrollment Period Completed -------- Tuition and Fees Refunded (actual calendar days including weekends) 0.000%-8.99% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 100% 9.000%-34.999% -------------------------------------------------------------------- 75% 35.000%-59.999% ------------------------------------------------------------------- 50% 60.000%-100.000% ------------------------------------------------------------------- 0% Students considering withdrawal from the semester need to complete the withdrawal process at the Business Office in Room 101, Old Main. The Withdrawing to Zero Credits Form may be found at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/deott/forms/withdraw.pdf "Drop and Add Deadlines by Session" Schedule: The Drop and Add Deadlines by Session schedule provides estimated dates for dropping classes and withdrawing. Please note that these dates may vary if individual class start/end dates differ from the general session dates in which the class is assigned. This schedule may be viewed at the following web site: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/deott/schedule/summer2007/sessdates.pdf Note: You must be checked out of campus housing before you can complete
a withdrawal. Checking out of campus housing does not constitute a withdrawal.
You need to follow the withdrawal process described above. |
