Comments from businesses in the College of Human Development and Education
What is your First Impression?
- It looks professional and gives the impression she is serious about projecting a professional image
- Professional business - neat
- Appropriate - though if this was summer it might make a better first impression
- Professional and comfortable; Shoes look comfortable, and when you are on your feet all day this is important
- Strong - pleasant - confident
Is this appropriate for a Career Fair? - First impressions are good, so I would suggest wearing this
- Very appropriate
- Excellent - some distinguishing jewelry or scarf would add pop
Is this appropriate for an Interview? - Appropriate - though darker colors would be better for an interview situation
- Very appropriate, although a dark suit may seem more "businesslike"
- Right on for an interview
- Excellent

What is your First Impression?
- Inappropriate for interview with jeans and uncomfortable looking shoes
- Looks nice, but is not dressed for work!
- Not appropriate
- Casual
- Very hip - on campus ready - afternoon or evening ready
Is this appropriate for a Career Fair? - Not appropriate when you want to make a good impression on a potential employer!
- High school or college maybe, but if it is a career fair sponsored by businesses, not appropriate
- No - unless the job is for an after school casual interaction with student
- Not appropriate
Is this appropriate for an Interview? - No, never wear blue jeans to an interview, no matter where you are interviewing
- Totally not appropriate! Once at the interview stage, wear your most professional business attire! It doesn't matter that you may not be wearing a suit every day on the job, but in the interview it is crucial!
- Not appropriate
- No - it says I know what looks good, but not necessarily what might be needed to make the good first impression

What is your First Impression? - It looks professional and gives the impression she is serious about projecting a professional image
- Appropriate and comfortable
- Very professional
- Neat - suit is always good
Is this appropriate for a Career Fair? - Yes, always look your best when attending a career fair, dress as if it is your first day at work
- Very appropriate
- Yes - this is a very acceptable look
Is this appropriate for an Interview? - Very appropriate
- Appropriate, but maybe tuck in the shirt
- There will be people that are not as comfortable with the shirt out; I would tuck it in for the interview, knowing that this can change easily on the job
- Appropriate, although the look is less "buttoned up" than the traditional business suit; This still works in my industry

What is your First Impression?
- Appropriate and comfortable
- Casual and stylish
- This is fine - nothing special - leaves me thinking 'just okay'
- Not so much business, more like retail
Is this appropriate for a Career Fair? - This certainly would work and given the variety of environments and temperatures it could be exactly on - needs something to distinguish it...
- Ok, I would add a jacket
Is this appropriate for an Interview? - Not in public education; I believe you should wear formal business attire
- I would suggest sleeves depending upon the season
- Not appropriate for an interview
- Ok, if no suit is available
- Again, it is fine, but does not speak to individual style; If this is comfortable I would certainly go for it - the personality will shine out

What is your First Impression?
- Working VERY hard at being professional - be careful that the front is not too low for movement
- Professional and prepared
- Professional, businesslike
Is this appropriate for a Career Fair? - Yes, come to the career fair like it is your first day of work
- Excellent choice
- Overdressed
- Not appropriate
- Yes - but a bit overdone
Is this appropriate for an Interview? - This certainly says, "I am serious about this process and want to work"
- Excellent choice; I would only have one concern and that would be with the neckline...too low??
- Appropriate
- Very appropriate if it is the second interview and the interviewers were dressed to the similar degree; Could be too intimidating otherwise
- Good choice
- Is that a tattoo on the foot? That would cause conversation after she left
