Employer Research
Before engaging with any employer, whether at a career fair, interview, or sending an email inquiring about job openings, it is essential that you take the time to do some research on the employer.
Impact without research:
"What do you do?"
Impact with research:
"I read about your recent merger with Delta; how will that affect your service to customers?"
It is easy to jump online and read the latest info on their company web site. Other ways to research employers, include visiting with your advisors, professors, and other professional contacts about what they know about the employer. Peruse the local online newspaper or TV channel website to find out what the employer has been doing in the community.
