Working as a research assistant in the Infant Cognitive Development Lab can be a fun and rewarding experience!

Graduate Students

Graduate students in the Child Development & Family Science (CDFS) Master's graduate program are eligible to work in the lab. For more information about the CDFS Master's program visit the CDFS website.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students may work as a research assistant for the ICDL for CDFS field experience (CDFS 196/496) or Psychology research experience (PSYC 494) at NDSU. Talk with your advisor about these options.

Types of jobs available

  • As a research assistant, you may have one of a variety of jobs.
  • As a research assistant, you may work directly with infants during a study.
  • observe and record infant behaviors.
  • play with older siblings
  • code infant behaviors from video files.
  • manage paperwork and data filing.
  • run video equipment.
  • help recruit participants.
  • design and construct new experimental environments or stimuli.
  • work to establish community contacts.
