  • College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Student Ambassador Enhancement Scholarship
    Awarded to a junior or a senior properly enrolled in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must have a written letter of recommendation from a current faculty or staff member of the College and write a short, 250 or less, essay on how you would enhance the College. May not be a current member of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Student Ambassador group.
  • Byron L. Berntson Class of 1961 Memorial Scholarship
    Awarded to students with high academic achievement majoring in English, a foreign language, history, political science, communication, or any of the fine arts who have contributed to the NDSU community through membership in a service fraternity or society, student government, a musical or dramatic arts group, or on the staff of a student publication. Must be properly enrolled at NDSU in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the time of application (Spring semester) and during the time of actual disbursement of funds (Fall semester). A minimum GPA of 3.60 over the preceding academic year at NDSU.
  • Glenn Hill Memorial Scholarship
    Awarded to sophomore or junior students majoring in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences with high academic achievement and financial need. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. Must be properly enrolled at NDSU during the time of application (Spring semester) and during the time of actual disbursement of funds (Fall semester). Must have demonstrated financial need as defined by the Student Financial Services Office.
  • Delsie Holmquist Memorial Scholarship
    Awarded to students majoring in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences with high academic achievement. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.60. Must be properly enrolled as a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior student at the time of application (Spring semester) and during the distribution of funds (Fall semester). At least two (2) awards are to be given to students enrolled in the Scholars Program.
  • Ann and Tom Riley Scholarship
    Awarded to a student majoring in one of the disciplines in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences who exhibits excellence in scholarship and promise in the discipline of his or her choice.
  • John T. Schneider Peace Memorial Scholarship
    Awarded to students majoring in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Must have obtained Junior or Senior standing with accumulated GPA of 3.00 or higher at the time of the award distribution. Must be properly enrolled at NDSU during the time of application (Spring semester) and during the time of actual distribution (Fall semester). Preference will be given to candidates who meet one or more of the following: 1) a career interest in serving in the US Peace Corps after graduation; 2) a contributor to or staff of the Spectrum and/or a student senator; 3) an employed part-time worker with a full-time academic schedule; 4) a current or past member of the NDSU Student Organization Young Democrats.

Pre-Law Club Scholarship

The Criminal Justice and Political Science Department is pleased to announce an academic scholarship for Pre-Law Club members. The deadline for applications is April 15th at 4:00pm. Awards will be announced on May 1st. One (1) award of $100.00 will be made each Spring semester. In order to be considered for the scholarship, all of the following criteria must be satisfied:

  1. Must have completed 60 credit hours, or if a transfer student, 12 credit hours at NDSU.
  2. Must have a minimum CPA of 3.00 for credits earned at NDSU.
  3. Must be a dues-paying member of the Pre-Law Club.
  4. Must be properly enrolled at NDSU during the time of application.

For applicants who satisfy all of the qualifying criteria, the determination of the scholarship recipient is based on a summary of calculations of "award points" which is based on the five (5) following factors.

  1. Year in school: based on number of completed credit hours
    Junior = 1 point Senior = 2 points
  2. GPA: the GPA equals the number of award points (e.g., a GPA of 3.45 = 3.45 points)
  3. Dean's List: each term at NDSU that a student is on the Dean's List equals one (1) point
  4. Dues-paying member of the NDSU Pre-Law Club: each year equals one (1) point
  5. Officer in the NDSU Pre-Law Club: each year equals one (1) point

In the case of a tie, the student's demonstrated service track record to other student organizations will be used.

The student receiving the highest number of points will be the scholarship recipient.

Trinka and Duane Rogne Family Scholarship

The Criminal Justice and Political Science Department is pleased to announce an academic scholarship for criminal justice and political science students in the name of the Trinka and Duane Rogne Family Scholarship. Awards will be announced in the Spring semester and the funds will be distributed in the Fall semester. The deadline for application is March 1st at 4:00pm. Awards will be announced on April 1st. Four (4) awards of $500.00 each will be given. In order to be considered for this scholarship, all of the following criteria must be satisfied:

  1. Must have completed 60 credit hours, or if a transfer student, 12 credit hours at NDSU.
  2. Must have declared a major in either criminal justice or political science at least one (1) year prior to the March 1st deadline.
  3. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 for credits earned at NDSU.
  4. Cannot be graduating during the Spring semester the awards are announced.
  5. Must be properly enrolled at NDSU during the time of actual disbursement of funds (Fall semester).

For applicants who satisfy all of the qualifying criteria, the determination of scholarship recipients is based on a summary calculation of "award points" which are based on four factors:

  1. Year in school: based on number of completed credit hours
    Junior = 1 point Senior = 2 points
  2. GPA: the GPA equals the number of award points (e.g., a GPA of 3.45 = 3.45 points)
  3. Dean's List: each term at NDSU that a student is on the Dean's List equals one (1) point

The students receiving the highest number of "awards points" will be the scholarship recipients.
