Template changes

In addition to the new single-column template option, the VPs template was modified. A summary of changes follows.

VPs template changes

  • The default text size for first-time visitors is Medium
However, if you have previously specified a text size on another CMS page, that preference will carry forward
  • In the main body area, content frames will display as:
Frame 1 - "callout box," which is a narrow box floated to the right of other body content
Frame 2 - "2-column text," which gives the appearance of two columns for the body text
  • Note, Warning, and Tip paragraph styles have changed
  • Table styles (including table heading cells) have changed
  • Heading styles have changed
  • Gold "Campus Directory" and black navigation bars can no longer be removed. Note that you can still insert custom links into the black navigation bar by customizing the template

Single-column template points to note

  • Single column is just one column: the border_content column is not displayed in the page
  • Site navigation is located in the black navigation bar and is not optional
  • Up to 7 navigation links are included in the site navigation, each may be up to 20 characters in length (additional characters will be automatically cropped from view)
  • When viewing a page that is more than 2 levels below the site home page, a Location breadcrumb menu will be visible above page content
  • The campus directory navigation bar is substituted with the text size widget and site search box and is not optional
  • The banner is not a link. Instead, sites have a text link to the site home page inserted at the top of each page

All templates

  • Pages that do not have any published content available will display a message indicating that no content has been published

Frame 1 + Frame 2

In the Normal column only, the meaning of Frame 1 and Frame 2 has changed. If you have followed usage guidelines, this change should not affect you in a negative way.

However, overuse of these frames will render your page in a way you probably don't expect. For example, a page with all contents in Frame 1 will have all the body copy in a narrow column floated to the right of the content area

If your content doesn't look the way it "used to" the solution is to remove the Frames or to use them more sparingly.
