Dr. Schulz CV
Dr. Doug Schulz received a B.S. in Chemistry from North Dakota State University in 1988. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1993 with a Ph.D. in Chemistry under Professor Tobin Marks with thesis research in the area of CVD precursors. Schulz spent 11 years developing printing inks for electronic materials with research projects on solar cells, thin film transistors and superconductors. He was employed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory with research interests in atmospheric pressure deposition of solar cell materials until late 1999. He then joined CeraMem Corporation in Waltham, Mass., focusing on the development of plug-in technologies to augment electronic materials manufacture.
In December 2003, Schulz began his position as Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE). His present responsibilities include management of programs in the areas of Flexible Microelectronics and Hard Protective Coatings. Schulz has also developed new funding opportunities for CNSE via state and federal agencies as well as commercial entities. An adjunct professor in the Mechanical Engineering department, Schulz serves as an advisor to graduate students and mentors the numerous undergraduates that are members of his group. He holds eight U.S. patents and has authored 88 publications.
