CPM professor’s research featured in Symyx’s Molecular Connection
October 29, 2008 – Fargo, N.D. – The research of Dr. Dean Webster, Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials (CPM) professor, is featured in an article that was published in the Fall 2008 issue of Molecular Connection. The published article, “Integrated Workflow Enables Academic Coatings Research,” highlights NDSU’s partnership with Symyx Technologies, Inc., Santa Clara, Calif.
Laboratories that Webster collaborates with at NDSU’s Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering were established with Symyx equipment, allowing NDSU to perform coatings research with high-throughput methods. The Symyx equipment and software provide a comprehensive automated system for materials development and testing. In particular, the system is used to develop coatings to protect piers, pilings and hulls of ships from bacteria, algae and barnacles. The article discusses how the integrated workflow at NDSU contributes to its coatings program’s success.
Molecular Connection is Symyx’s print magazine that provides in-depth discussions about how scientists are innovating in today’s demanding research and development environment. For more information on Molecular Connection and Symyx visit www.symyx.com/molecularconnection.
