Undergraduate Research Assistant Positions
Job Application

NDSU's Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) is an interdisciplinary research entity located in the state of the art Research 2 facility at the NDSU Research and Technology Park . CNSE is conducting research on numerous sponsored programs in the areas of microsensors, wireless electronics miniaturization, biosecurity, RFID tags, magnetic materials, and protective coatings for ships and aircraft. CNSE's Research Park location, served by the campus loop, makes it an ideal place for NDSU students to earn while they learn.

One of CNSE's goals is to provide NDSU undergraduates with opportunities to participate in research, development, and technology deployment activities through its Undergraduate Research Assistant (UGRA) positions. Over the last year more than 40 undergraduates have worked alongside CNSE scientists, engineers, graduate students and faculty, on cutting-edge and unique technologies transferred from Silicon Valley companies like Alien Technology, Tessera Technologies and Symyx® Technologies. Several students have taken positions with us after graduation. Here are the particulars of UGRA employment:

• Minimum of 10 h/w during academic year, full-time (40 h/w) appointment in summer

• Most candidates commit to one-year term, and position can continue through undergrad years. Some students have transitioned to NDSU Graduate programs with GRA stipends in place. Works like a paid internship, only it's on-campus! You can get back and forth to classes in 10 minutes.

• CNSE pay is competitive, starting at $8.50 an hour or higher depending on qualifications and experience.

• UGRAs learn best practices for intellectual property protection and IP confidentiality that will characterize future work experiences.

To apply, complete a CNSE employment application form and submit form via email to: ndsu.cnse.hr@ndsu.edu. Some positions may require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Questions may be directed to Shelly Sandstrom by phone at 701-231-5824 or by e-mail at ndsu.cnse.hr@ndsu.edu For top consideration, applications must be received by the position deadline.
