| Is
experience the best teacher?
Some psychologists have found that experience can restrict creativity. Some experienced editors or designers might not view a problem with a fresh outlook. They might classify it with past problems and select solutions from past experience. Only if the problem type cannot be recognized is it studied in depth. Otherwise, old solutions are fitted to new problems. What is the answer? Creative problem solvers suggest the answer might be brainstorming--using group interaction to stimulate individual thought. Participants are encouraged to generate as many ideas as possible without evaluating them. After a brief period of time, the ideas are grouped, duplicates and obviously impractical suggestions eliminated, and the others rank ordered.
