I am Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities,
and Social Sciences, Director of the Doctoral Program, and
Professor of Communication at North Dakota State University.
I moved to NDSU in 2000 to launch an innovative doctoral
program in the Department of Communication and that program
has graduated nearly 40 doctoral students. I have written 34
books, 80 professional articles, and have presented over 300
professional papers.
I have been highly active in professional associations. I was
the President of the Central States Communication
Association, President of the World Communication
Association, and President of the National Communication
Association, a group of nearly 8,000 members.
I am interested in interpersonal communication, family
communication, instructional communication, and new
technologies.
I am currently teaching COMM 111: Honors Public Speaking. In
Spring 2010, I will be teaching COMM 714: Marriage and Family
Communication. I use a hybrid method of teaching courses that
combines face-to-face sessions and online features.
