I joined the NDSU Department of Communication in January 2012, shortly after completing my M.A. in communication at the University of Wyoming in 2011. Prior to graduate school, I spent five years working as a professional journalist, including four years as the high school sports coordinator at the Casper (Wyo.) Star-Tribune; I also worked at the Idaho Falls (Idaho) Post Register and the Gillette (Wyo.) News-Record. I earned my B.S. in journalism from the University of Wyoming in 2004.
As the department’s professor of practice, I focus on teaching and service. I teach undergraduate media writing courses, advise the NDSU student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and act as faculty adviser to NDSU's student newspaper, The Spectrum. I also coordinate department internships.
This fall and this spring, I am teaching COMM 200: Intro to Media Writing and COMM 310: Advanced Media Writing.
