Internships are a critical ingredient in the successful mix of
education and experience necessary to success in a
communication-related field. Media-rich Fargo-Moorhead offers the
most internship opportunities between Minneapolis and Spokane.
Additional possibilities are available on campus through the
university relations office, extension communication, sports
information, and other areas.
In addition to its own internship office, the department coordinates many paid internships through NDSU's Office of Cooperative Education. This office arranges work experience for many departments through a single facility, assuring students a comprehensive listing of opportunities.
All internships must be approved by the department in advance. Generally, students are eligible for one credit for every 40 hours worked. Three credits apply to the major; the rest may apply to electives.
Recent communication student internships include work on newspapers, radio stations, television stations, institutions and commercial firms.
