NCA Doctoral Honors Seminar
Communication in Action: Disciplinary Applications for the 21st Century

July 26 - 29, 2011
North Dakota State University
The theme for the 2011 Doctoral Honors Seminar was aimed at preparing for the 100th anniversary of the National Communication Association. It invited participants to look forward to issues, theories, and methods that are evolving in communication research as we move toward a second century of communication scholarship.

30 doctoral students were selected to participate in the 2011 Seminar, held on the campus of North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Students were placed into one of three work groups, each of which was led by two to three faculty members. Working together, the faculty members and students discussed the submitted papers as well as engaged in discussions of the theoretical, methodological, ethical, and practical issues involved in conducting research that might come to define the next century of communication scholarship.
