NDSU's New BIN Television Studio Opens

North Dakota State University begins the fall semester with a brand new, state-of-the-art television control room and studio. The Bison Information Network (BIN) Television Studio is located in Bison Block 1 and includes a 20 student video-editing lab, which has Macintosh computers with Final Cut Pro editing software. All equipment was paid for by Student Tech Fee funds.

This fall, the Department of Communication is offering two broadcast journalism classes in the new video-editing lab: COMM 345: Introduction to Broadcast Production and COMM 491: Television Studio Production. In the spring, the department will be offering COMM 445: Advanced Broadcast Production, as well as a Sports Broadcasting course.

The Bison Information Network is the third major student media outlet at NDSU, joining The Spectrum and Thunder Radio. BIN student leaders will begin preparing to produce a weekly NDSU newscast and other programming during the fall semester. BIN programming will air on a Bison campus channel, and discussions about airing BIN programming on a local cable channel continue.

For more information on Department of Communication's broadcasting courses, contact Rich Lodewyk, Broadcast Program Director.

For information on how to get involved with the Bison Information Network, contact Peter Gregory, BIN General Manager.
