Curriculum

The undergraduate Coatings and Polymeric Materials program at NDSU is considered one of the best in the country. NDSU students with a CPM minor are accepted into prestigious graduate schools and job opportunities are excellent. M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Coatings and Polymeric Materials are also available. Graduates of these programs hold prominent research and management positions with some of the world's foremost coatings corporations such as 3M, Sherwin-Williams, PPG, The Valspar Corporation, ICI-Glidden, and others. In 1991, 3M Company established the 3M Professorship in the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials.

Faculty members are widely recognized as leaders in their research field and are among the most cited in the world, via published books, papers, and symposia appearances. The department is a site for the National Science Foundation Coatings Research Center, one of the most prestigious academic-government-industry consortia.
