Course Description:

This course is an introductory level course for individuals working in industrial skilled trades and maintenance technician jobs. The course covers the basic nature and functionality of electricity. Learners explore the basic properties of electrical circuit, voltage, current, resistance and power. In addition, the course covers how to utilize Ohm’s Law to determine electrical properties in series and parallel circuits and how to apply Watt’s Law to simple circuits.

Course Objectives:
• Explore how and why PLCs were developed
• Know how PLCs work
• Understand where PLC systems are used
• Read PLC installation (hardwire) diagrams
• Analyze the main parts of a PLC system
• Learn basic PLC programming symbols
• Use basic PLC programming Logic
• Understand troubleshooting basics
