Course Description:
Introductory course tracing the development of fashion and its industry that includes consumer demand and fashion change, the development, production, and marketing of goods from concept to consumer, and their interrelationships. Students will apply theories and concepts presented in class to projects and research including fashion forecasting, retail practices, and demographics. Students will also participate in the following class activites:
*analyze the practices of a major retailer
*analyze their own shopping behavior and of their demographic
*prepare a fashion forecast using the tools presented in class
*review new developments in fashion and marketing
*discuss weekly readings/presentations with fellow students
*research new developments in textile design
