Don't just learn about Uganda. Experience Uganda firsthand.
Experience Uganda is a unique study tour of Uganda, Africa, offered each summer due to collaboration between North Dakota State University (NDSU), Fargo, and Makerere University, Uganda. Through this trip participants learn from International experts who specialize in veterinary medicine, wildlife, food safety, public health, and disease surveillance. In addition, individuals or students interested in wildlife have an opportunity to work side by side with wildlife veterinarians in Uganda's national parks.

Through this experience you will learn to contribute to producing a broadly inclusive, open minded, world class, and globally engaged science workforce. Studying international animal production, food safety, and public health systems will provide a foundation for tomorrow's global citizens. This program also provides shared opportunities through collaborative research and/or fieldwork in Uganda and the United States in areas of mutual interest.
Because of the connections with international experts and the incredible learning opportunity this trip offers, NDSU invites interested individuals throughout the United States to participate in the Experience Uganda Study Tour. Participants may take this class for graduate or undergraduate credit or as a non-credit learning experience.

“It was great to meet, interact, and make lasting connections and friendships with the faculty and students from NDSU and Makerere University. I was very impressed by how safe the environment was and how everything was pretty much taken care of for me with regards to housing, money for food and transportation. I got to visit some beautiful areas throughout Uganda, from the different national parks to historical sites. The wildlife and animals I saw on the trip were absolutely amazing. It was really interesting to learn and see diseases foreign to the United States. Lastly, it was very interesting to learn about the people, their mindset, and cultural attitudes. All people interested in animals, humans, public health and international infectious diseases should definitely take a look into this program.”
