Bullying Prevention

This course will discuss school policy and school-wide efforts in dealing with bullying and violence issues. You will learn how to intervene in bullying situations and teach students strategies on how to deal with bullying situations. You will receive The Bully Free Classroom textbook which covers ideas, methods, and activities to deal with the issue of bullying. You should bring a copy of your school policy that addresses bullying, violence, and/or harassment.
Course Objectives:
Recognize the importance of school policy in prevention and intervention on harassment, sexual harassment, and bullying issues. Recognize the importance of school-wide efforts in developing a plan for violence intervention and prevention. Recognize and identify effective strategies for teachers and staff in dealing with bullying situations. Recognize and identify effective strategies for students in dealing with bullying situations. Recognize and identify curriculum and programs for classrooms in violence prevention.
