Infectious Disease Management and Biosecurity Graduate Certificate
The online graduate certificate in International Infectious Disease Management and Biosecurity will train students to address infectious disease problems using "one world, one health, one medicine" concept in a way that will tackle new and emerging pathogens that are not limited by species or geographic boundaries from their source of origin or hot spots.
This is a joint program between NDSU and Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
Zoonotic pathogens account for 60% of all known human diseases and 75% of emerging diseases. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) asserts that 80% of pathogens with potential as biological weapons are of animal origin. The emergence of previously unknown and dangerous zoonotic pathogens is inevitable, but the timing and location of their emergence cannot be predicted with certainty. Protecting the world from transboundary health threats demands a global public health perspective and investment in global public health infrastructure.
Graduate certificates are an excellent way to earn creditals and decide if a full master's program is right for you. Credits offered in this program can be transferred into the full online M.S. in Infectious Disease Management and Biosecurity program.
