How to Add Wimba Tools to a Blackboard Course Shell

Wimba tools can be used to provide audio and video content and web-conferencing capability to a Blackboard course shell. Wimba tools are available as a Building Block to the Blackboard system and are available to all NDSU faculty.

To add Wimba tools, use the following process:

  1. Login to Blackboard and navigate to the course shell where you will be using Wimba.

  3. On the navigation bar, select Control Panel.

  5. On the Control Panel, select Manage Tools located near the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

  7. On the next screen, select Building Block Tool Availability from the choices.

  9. On the next screen, you will see a listing of all of the tools available for Blackboard.
  10. Scroll down until you find the tools that include the Wimba title.

  12. Select the checkbox that corresponds to each Wimba tool that you wish to use (place a checkmark in the box).
  13. Select the Submit button when you have completed your selections.

  15. On the next screen, you should see a confirmation.

  17. To access the Wimba Live Classroom select the Communication link on the navigation bar.

  19. You will see the Live Classroom listed.
