This 3-credit continuing education graduate course begins with a review of its theoretical base and underlying principles and concepts. The course will then cover the most current and advanced Photoshop techniques. Participants will create projects for use in the classroom and also learn how to involve their students in the advanced use of Photoshop.
Participants will interact with the instructor and fellow students on-site, via email, and course discussion board at the instructor’s website. Lots of ideas, materials, strategies and activities will be shared, analyzed and evaluated.
Each of these projects are designed to strengthen and supplement basic learning strategies and thus, according to current research, favorably impact student achievement.
- Become familiar with the advanced techniques of Photoshop
- Save and retrieve digital images from disks, local networks and the Internet
- Locate and utilize web storage for digital images
- Transfer images to commercial vendors for printing
- Design and complete creative projects for use in the K-12 classroom
- Plan appropriate application of this new technology to specific instructional situations
- Select, design and develop materials and strategies to use in the classroom
- Develop the ability to integrate the new technology across the curriculum at all levels
- Interact with fellow students and instructor via the course discussion board
- Identify and apply appropriate state standards for technology skills and integration
- Retouch damaged photos using Photoshop Spot Healing, Healing Brush, Patch Tool, and Clone Stamp Tool
- Use Layers feature to control and manipulate digital images
- Make use of the Gradient, Mask and Layer tools in Photoshop
- Create and store digital images via scanner, camera and software and web sites
- Complete projects per the checklist for each task utilizing the skills learned in this class
- Create a web banner per the checklist for the project
- Post a web banner to the Internet
- Interact with instructor and fellow students via the course website, Google chat and email
- Complete the Technology Plan of Action
