Course Description:
Do you want to increase students' standardized/state test scores without teaching to the test? This online course will explore ways to teach test taking strategies during regular reading instructional and assessment activities. Research has shown that when students understand the mechanics of test taking, their performance improves.
Objectives:
As a result of this participation in this course, students should:
1. Explore research supporting the relationship of students’ knowledge of test-taking strategies and improved test performance.
2. Identify the test-taking strategies needed for standardized tests.
3. Discover how to implement test-taking strategies into reading instructional and assessment activities.
4. Develop lesson plans/activities implementing test-taking strategies into reading instructional and assessment activities.
