Course Description:

Do you want to increase students' standardized/state test scores without teaching to the test? This online course will explore ways to teach test taking strategies during regular reading instructional and assessment activities. Research has shown that when students understand the mechanics of test taking, their performance improves.

Objectives:

As a result of this participation in this course, students should:

1.  Explore research supporting the relationship of students’ knowledge of test-taking strategies and improved test performance.

2.  Identify the test-taking strategies needed for standardized tests.

3.  Discover how to implement test-taking strategies into reading instructional and assessment activities.

4.  Develop lesson plans/activities implementing test-taking strategies into reading instructional and assessment activities.

Judy Kvaale

Judy Kvaale earned an M.S. in Elementary Education from Minot State University. Judy also earned a B.A. in Elementary Education, with a minor in reading. Judy has over 35 years of experience as a third grade teacher as well as experience instructing graduate classes and adult education. Judy also received the West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Month award.
