Curriculum Development for Teachers, Levels 1-4

Teachers will develop curricular projects by design, require students to do original research, challenge or test a belief or demonstrate a phenomena; and/or allow them age, grade appropriate work with computer technology. The curricula designed by the teachers will challenge the students to observe similarities and differences between the environment and/or culture.
No textbook is required however one is recommended 'Instructional Models" by Joyce is especially useful for those who have not had much exposure to innovative and unique instructional models. Teachers will be writing and implementing their own curriculum for this course.
A variety of information from various texts and ASCD materials will be provided for review and personal research throughout the course. Participants will be invited to check out those materials online or surf the web for other sites that are of use to them and the particular area in which they teach.
Journal articles and other short printed materials will be made available to participants throughout the duration of the course.
About The Instructor
Jody Barbie earned her M.S. in Education, with a minor in emotional disturbances, from North Dakota State University. Her B.S. in Education and English was also from North Dakota State University. Jody has experience as an adjunct professor for North Dakota State University and previously taught for the Fargo Public Schools. In her 35 year career, Jody has also served on several boards, has experience in grant writing, and has won several professional awards for her teaching.
A minimum $20 processing fee will be assessed per person for cancellations received after the start of the course. Refunds are not issued after the start of the course or after access to the course has been provided.
