This course is centered around the powerful 6+1 Traits of Writing model, a centerpiece of many districts' literacy program. Teachers will learn how to implement a comprehensive student writing program in their classroom, improving their skills in planning, actual instruction and assessment of student writing. Recommended Grades 3-12
The participant will:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the 6+ 1 Traits of Writing:
a. Ideas b.Organization c. Voice d. Word Choice e. Sentence Fluency f . Conventions
2. Devise effective ways of integrating all traits of writing into their classrooms.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in assessing student writing using the Traits as the criteria.
