Course Description:

Training Educators in Student Trauma is a course designed to help the educator as a whole.  The topics discussed will touch on many aspects that are involved with working in the field of education.  Whether you are an administrator or classroom teacher, there are key pieces of information we will provide to help you experience greater success while working with students dealing with trauma.

Objectives:

1. Utilize a greater understanding of the effects of stress and trauma on both themselves and students.

2. Understand how positive relationships can be created and enhanced.

3. Recognize the effects of trauma on student learning.

About The Instructor

Charles North

Charles North earned an M.A. in Secondary School Administration from Central Michigan University, where he also earned a B.S. in Secondary Education with a major in Mathematics and minor in Earth Science. Charles has experience teaching high school and in educational leadership positions to include the titles of principal, federal funding director, and district curriculum coordinator. Charles has published articles in the School Recognition Journal from the Department of Education and in publications from Central Michigan University.
