This course is intended for both teachers of music, theater, art, physical education, and industrial arts, as well as "regular" education teachers who would like to incorporate the arts into their classrooms. For a teacher of the arts, this course resents a definitive case for making the arts a core part of the school curriculum. Participants will explore how a solid arts education can enhance performance in other disciplines and facilitate overall brain development. For the regular education teacher, this course is filled with ways to include the visual, musical, and kinesthetic arts to increase opportunities for more students to learn, enhance their thinking, and make classrooms more positive and inclusive. Participants will learn how to include songs, skits, sketches, and simulations and everything in between-to make learning more interesting, meaningful, and long lasting. Numerous examples of successful strategies will be presented in this course, drawn from several grade levels and subjects.
