Along with providing relevant research, you will explore ideas that can be used immediately in the classroom. This course is packed with techniques for organizing time and space, sample lesson plans with photographs, and reflection questions to stimulate your literacy instruction.
As a result of this participation in this course, students should:
- Understand effective components of a small group instruction area;
- Analyze the teaching of the five essential reading elements;
- Evaluate current research in the area of small and large group literacy instruction;
- Describe how students assessments may be used to develop small reading groups;
- Understand routines that will develop into good literacy habits.
