Course Description:
In this constructivist and self-directed learning journey, educators will embrace being a learner first, teacher second. They will receive ongoing support through a scaffolding of leadership and will participate in both an asynchronous virtual community of practice and attend twelve one-hour synchronous webinars. These sessions will take participants from “What is 21st Century learning and why is it important?” to “How do I create a 21st Century classroom or school?” Educators will explore the global changes created by online social technologies and the implications for teaching and learning, think deeply about professional and personal learning practice, examine practical and pedagogical implications for classrooms, conduct action research (that is aligned to school improvement goals) and initiate conversations and planning around long-term change and the scaling of these ideas and technologies.
