Course Description:

In this course you will study the development of math and science in the mind of the young child (birth to grade 4) and what is needed to meet the strategies for developing the mind of this age group.  Early childhood education is any educational experience that children experience.  It is not necessary to be a formal education and tightened down hatches. The at ease child will learn great amounts simply by feeling ready to learn and attempt new experiences. In this course, you will learn the importance and effectiveness of appropriate early childhood experiences and how to encourage this motion and motive to learn. The student will apply an understanding of child development in the family setting as well in public domain.

Objectives:

  • To prepare students to teach mathematics and science in an early childhood (primary) setting.
  • To inform students of state and national standards related to teaching early childhood math and science.
  • To relate theoretical concepts to the real world of teaching.
  • To insure early childhood teachers know how to utilize all resources, including the internet, technology, literature, to teach early childhood math and science.
  • To describe the scientific process and its application to the early childhood indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • To relate the cognitive sequence to gain math and science concepts.
  • To develop methods to encourage thinking.
