Course Description:
Social media are powerful tools for exploring and sharing the grassroots cultural heritage of your community. Students in this course will explore the heritage of German-Russian County (Emmons, Logan, & McIntosh counties) and share it using social media (Facebook, Flickr, and TripAdvisor). Students will acquire heritage knowledge and media skills applicable both to instructional use and personal fulfillment.
Objectives:
- Acquire a basic familiarity with German-Russian history & culture;
- Ground this historical and cultural knowledge through exploration of three heritage sites;
- Attain competency in common social media sufficient to share experiences with others.
