Course Description:
Join Melanie Layne, Program Consultant for the Kennedy Center’s Changing Education through the Arts Program, and ND Council on the Arts staff to uncover the characteristics of quality arts integration.
Objectives:
- Participate in arts-integrated lessons to see first-hand how arts-integrated instruction meets the demands of current learning and best practice without sacrificing the principles of how children learn best.
- Examine engaging techniques for interpreting works of art to activate learning, build background knowledge and construct meaning while making authentic connections across the curriculum.
- Discover and explore methods for documenting and communicating arts-integrated instruction and student learning to various constituents, such as principals, schools boards and parents.
