This course also provides an understanding of how to use Common Core guidelines for dramatic improvement of instruction and greater student performance.

This course helps teachers by address the question of what should instruction look like with the common core standards? How is it different? How is it the same? This course provides extensive classroom video footage illustrating how the Common Core State Standards and Standards for Mathematical Practices can work together to help students master mathematical concepts.

This interactive course is designed for job-embedded learning and practical classroom application using our virtual lesson study process. This virtual lesson study environment will help facilitate the process for teachers to better incorporate the instructional practices outlined within the Common Core This comprehensive instructional course provides educators and administrators proven methods to implement Common Core requirements into daily classroom practices, easily and efficiently. Objectives:

The successful student will:

  • be able to adjust their own instructional strategies, based on their review and reflection of instruction and according to key research and evidence based protocols, associated with ‘Implementing Skilled Instruction’
  • incorporate strategies that can contribute to and help teachers integrate these opportunities for improved instructional strategies (i.e. effective questioning, problem solving, student learning, differentiation, assessment practices, classroom environments conducive for student learning)
  • be able to adjust their own teaching techniques, based on their review and reflection of instruction, using the Lesson Study approach
  • review methods for applying factors that can contribute to providing opportunities for improved instructional strategies to help students become motivated to learn mathematics
  • review actual classroom lesson videos and participate in structured dialogue sessions with a Math Specialist providing proven educational techniques to be applied in the classroom (i.e. effective questioning, problem solving, student learning, differentiation, assessment practices, classroom environments conducive for student learning. )
