Course Description:

In this course, teachers will learn how to successfully use iPads in the K-12 classroom. Teachers are taught the importance of using the iPad to reach educational objectives and teach real-world technology skills to students. A plethora of apps are introduced that align with curriculum standards. The apps outlined in the course can be used to teach English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health, and the arts. Additionally, teachers learn about apps that can be used as classroom tools for instruction and assessment, as well as, those that can serve as platforms for the creation of multimedia components and projects.

Objectives:

1. Teachers will learn how to use the physical and digital interface of the iPad.
2. Teachers will gain an understanding of how iPad use can tie into educational standards.
3. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for digital reading and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
4. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for digital writing and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
5. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for researching and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
6. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for mathematics and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
7. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for science and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
8. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for social studies and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
9. Teachers will learn about apps that can be used for health and the arts and how they can be implemented in the classroom.
10. Teachers will learn how to use apps created by Google including Google Chrome, Google Search, Google Drive, Google Earth, and more.
11. Teachers will learn how to use apps as platforms for communication, collaboration, and social networking.
12. Teachers will practice with the creation of multimedia components and projects using apps.
13. Teachers will learn how to deliver instruction using presentation apps.
14. Teachers will gain an understanding of how to use and create educational podcasts and screencasts through the use of apps.
15. Teachers will learn how to use apps to facilitate and deliver assessments.
16. Teachers will be provided with an abundance of classroom activity ideas that utilize apps and align with curriculum standards.
17. Teachers will learn how to locate and download free educational apps.
